Kid's Christian Music

We might not all be able to sing, but I know very few people who don’t like to sing. Even if you are a shower or car diva, singing lifts the spirits. It makes us happy. Here are suggestions for fun and educational Christian musical activities.
Liturgical dancing has taken on a new place in the worship service in churches. Dancers are choosing contemporary Christian music to demonstrate their love for God. The music speaks to them and they identify with it. In this way, they can make the musical expression their own.
The dance troupe in my church includes both kids and adults. The practices can be grueling at times, but it is all for worship and fun. The final performances are moving for us as well as the audience, making it more than worth all the hard work.
Dancing is one musical activity that all kids can get into. One person who is good at dancing can help to choreograph a dance for the kids to learn. This dance can be performed in church, Sunday school, other churches, or a youth center. Music has long been a way to reach out to others and have fun at the same time.
Let’s go back to singing for a bit. I know you don’t want to sing, but consider that it is the feeling and the meaning behind the song that counts. Since you’re still not totally convinced, let the children do the singing in public.
Karaoke is a great way to spend an evening with family. Each person gets a turn to sing their favorite song and be silly. Instead of mainstream music, choose your favorite Christian artist to emulate. You can even dress the part if it makes you feel more comfortable. Even without the fancy dress, kids will jump at the chance to hear their parents sing.
This is a fun activity for family reunions, sleepovers, birthday parties, or anytime you feel like having a good time. Everyone gets to participate and it is for fun not competition. However, you can also choose to do a competition such as a "Christian American Idol." Make sure you have only draft friendly judges. Leave Simon on the original "American Idol."
Poems read to music are popular these days too. Instead of a smoky club, readers can perform in church, youth groups, or at home. The poems can vary as long as they have a spiritual base.
How do you set your feelings to music? There are many ways that kids can do this including dance, poetry, and singing. Try some of the ideas above and come up with some of your own with your kids today.

I found this blog on faith and wanted to share it.

Christian Board Games & Card Games

When I was a kid, the best part was playing. It could be indoors with my sisters or outdoors with my friends. No matter where it was, I loved to play. All kids need have the opportunity to play.
I loved to play games. Before the computer and video games became big business, everyone played board games. They kept us occupied and using our brains even though we didn’t know it. The religious industry has taken some of the most common and most popular board games and given them a Christian twist.
There’s nothing wrong with that. Biblical values give children a good foundation for learning right from wrong and how to become self aware. The world can be a harsh place and equipping our kids with the best of values makes parents feel better.
Kids also like card games. Remember playing "Go Fish"? How about "Old Maid"? These games are timeless and helped us with matching and memorization. With a Christian twist, kids learn about the Bible and the lessons that it teaches.
Instead of pictures of fish and other undersea creatures, there are pictures of disciples, profits, and events in Bible history. Kids may ask about the characters or offer up the stories about what they know of the characters on the cards. Card trivia games test our knowledge of the Bible.
Board games also foster family time and time with friends. Kids spend too much time in front of the television or a video game console. Besides, games are fun and everyone can get involved. Some of the more popular Christian board games are for most ages so kids can play with their parents as well.
Have you ever played Monopoly? Of course you have. Most people have played some version of it. The Christian version is called Biblopoly.
In this version, instead of trying to get all the money yourself and building the biggest and best hotels, the object is cooperation. The winner is the person who builds their church first, but the purpose is to help others along the way to also get a leg up in the game. When we help others, we all win.
Games are fun for kids and adults alike. They are no less fun if they teach Christian values. On the contrary, these games can often spark other interesting conversations that can be very beneficial to the entire group. Some kids might not learn as well in just a church service or Bible school setting, so this is one way for those children to learn and grow in their Christian lifestyles.
Looking for a good activity to use in a church group or for a relaxing family game night? Consider board and/or card games that teach values as you have fun.

Christian Skits and Plays

At one time or another, every kid has dreamed of being an actor. They see all their favorite stars on the television and in the movies and they want to be them. It is fun to play dress up and pretend. It lets our imagination soar to new heights. Some of the best ideas people have ever had came from such times when their minds were free.
Skits and plays are fun activities that kids can do and parents can institute to teach Christian values and foster that love of the stage. Skits are shorter than plays and can be used when time is limited or for a Sunday school activity. Plays are longer productions that can be performed on holidays and other special occasions.
You can surf the Internet for Christian plays and skits or make up some of your own. For older kids, they can be given an idea and allowed to run with it so to speak. They can form groups and come up with an impromptu skit to present to the class. For the parent’s part, bring in props and clothing that can be used by the kids to bring their characters to life.
This type of activity isn’t limited to Sunday school either. For family fun night or some other night when you want to do something different, hold a skit contest. Each person can act out a scene from the Bible and have a neutral person to judge. It is like the ultimate game of charades.
Plays are a bigger deal during holidays. Most people go all out with props, sets, costumes, and scripts. The kids are learning about the life of Jesus through their acting. On Easter they learn about his crucifixion and on Christmas, they learn about his birth.
Skits teach other concepts and Bible stories too. Kids may be asked to perform a skit that demonstrates mercy or goodness. They will draw on their knowledge of the Bible to come up with creative stories that no one else may have thought of. There can be friendly competition involved in these activities but they are also perfect learning experiences.
Let kids experiment with modern-day situations to demonstrate Christian values as well. By making it personal to them, they get more out of it.
Acting is a way of expressing ourselves as another character. Children and adults get to walk a mile in the shoes of a Bible character and learn about their life.

Greater Vision Southern Gospel Music

If you love gospel music like I do check out this page on squidoo.

It has several videos of the southern gospel singers, Greater Vision. They are really good and I love the words to their songs. The songs are uplifting and will get you smiling. I put a couple of my favorites on there.

I believe God gave us music to sooth our spirits and to help us when we are sad or stressed.

A.S.A.P.

There's work to do, deadlines to
meet; You've got no time to spare,
But as you hurry and scurry-
A.S.A.P. Always Say A Prayer

In the midst of family chaos,
"Quality Time" is rare. Do your best,
let God do the rest-
A.S.A.P. Always Say A Prayer

It may seem like your worries
Are more than you can bear.
Slow down and take a breather-
A.S.A.P. Always Say A Prayer

God knows how stressful it is,
He wants to ease our cares,
And he'll respond to all your needs
A.S.A.P. Always Say A Prayer.
