Saving Money

I am learning to save money by going to CVS and taking advantage of their extra care bucks.
I think I will try the deal at CVS where you get the Carnation Breakfast Drink Mix and get it free after the ECBs. I need something with lots of vitamins and calcium in it. This is a great deal. A good breakfast and it will be free!

Feel Bad?

Are you feeling bad? I have been for about two months. I think my husband is about tired of a grouchy wife. I keep going to the Dr. but he can't seem to figure out what is going on. So I am trying to smile and do little things that I can do.

My tips:
  • Think about a nice quiet place when you are feeling really bad.
  • Try to be careful what you say, even though it is hard.
  • Baby yourself a little. No one else understands.
Hope this helps.

Losing Weight

My husband and I are working at losing weight as so many people are. I saw an advertisement in one of our local papers about a weight loss challenge in our area. I told my husband that I thought it would be a good idea for us.

His comment was that we were doing ok with what we are doing and not getting stressed out over it. If we joined a challenge we would be stressed. This would not be good for us. We do not need extra stress in our lives.

I had to think for a minute. He was right. When you are over stressed it messes with you physically. It messes with your temperament. It can cause upsets in the family. So ok. I decided to keep plugging along at what we are doing. It seems to be working for us.

Take Care of Your Health

Hi Friends
Just a note to remind you that you need to take care of yourself. I know that there is always something more important. Or so it seems. But if you don't take care of yourself it will catch up with you. I was warned about six years ago to start eating right and eat low fat foods. Well, I did not take it to heart. Now I have had two mini- strokes. I am ok but I know it could happen again. But I am going to look up and be positive. I can make good choices now. I can love everyone and do what I can do for others now.

Don't put it off please.

Working again

Hi Folks
I have been unable to post for awhile. But I am back. I had a bought with bronchitis and a couple of other things. If you feel like you need to go to the doctor it is best not to put it off. That is what I did and it cost me more in the long run money wise and pain wise.

It seems I have become resistant to some antibiotics. That is why it took a little while for me to get on the road to feeling better.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

How to get up in a better mood.

If you want to wake up and start your day in a good mood try what Henry Thoreau, the American Philosopher used to do. Before he would get out of bed in the morning he would tell himself all the good news he could think of. This would include good health, friends, interesting work and people that looked up to him. By the time he got up he was already on his way to a good day. Try it and see what happens!

Fear is Removable

In Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's book "Enthusiasm Makes a Difference", he says that fear is removable. A primary factor to know about fear is that it is removable. Anger is removable. You can get over it. Depression is removable. Anything that is disruptive to human happiness and well being, anything that has fastened on to the human spirit is removable. Fix this in your mind. Hold on to it. No matter how many worries and anxieties harass you, remember always that they are removable. Enthusiasm with its immense mental and spiritual power can cancel out all fear. When you decide with God's help you can remove these things, then comes the process of removal. Deep within you is the power of self discipline. You must use it. First, listen to what you say. Then, each time you say something negative say "STOP". Then say the exact opposite of what you were going to say.

Grown Kids

My Mom used to say it was harder raising grown kids than little ones. I didn't know at the time what she meant. Now that mine are grown I understand. It seems like there is always some kind of hurt feelings or drama going on. I tried so hard to raise them to feel loved and cared for and to be good people. And they are good people. I am wandering why it seemed we were all close when they were little but now things are different. I always seem to say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing. Maybe this is just a phase too. Maybe that was how my Mom felt too.

The "As If Principle"

Several years ago, a famous psychologist by the name of William James, told about his "As If" principle. He said that if you wanted a quality in your life, act as though you already had it. This technique has power to it. It gets things going. If you are a shy person and have low self-esteem, then start seeing yourself as an outgoing and confident person. A person that can handle any situation. Once these thoughts are imbedded in your consciousness and you start acting in this way and stick with it, you tend to become this new person.

Little Goals Add Up!

In a book by Mr. Norman Vincent Peale called "Enthusiasm Makes the Difference", Mr. Peale tells about a man that started a very popular magazine. When he set out to publish the magazine he had very little money. Him and his wife worked on it together. Most of his friends told him to give up. But he would not. He decided to start with small goals that he could reach. Each time he reached a goal it gave him the feel of success and it kept him going on to the next goal. All the little goals that he reached added up to a major goal. He calls this the "little goal philosophy". The man finally was able to publish the magazine called Ebony.

If you tackle the little goals you don't get discouraged and give up. You make progress that adds up to some pretty big stuff!
